Workshops 2009 Sun Valley, Idaho
I will be scheduling several plein air workshops during the summer and fall here in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho. My classes are small, usually less than 8 students. Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Plein Air oil painting (soft pastel or watercolor artists welcome, too). By beginning I mean first time painting outdoors. You must have some experience with the oils or your medium of choice.
Workshops are open to painters of all levels. My approach to painting is about “painting the light”not painting things”. Learning to trust “what you see” and not “what you know” is key to filling your paintings with beautiful color.
Private & semi-private lessons available in my Ketchum studio.

How to See Color and Paint It
Beginning/Intermediate Oil Painting
6 Days: October 20/21 & 27/28 & November 3/4
Class is over, we had a great time!
Beginners will learn how to handle oils using a limited palette and will create a color wheel with intensity scale and value scale, too. We will paint simple still lifes from life learning how to see color and mix it. Intermediate painters will work from life set-ups and also how to work from their own photo reference. Each student will receive individual help in moving to the next level in their own process. Emphasis on composition, "seeing color", understanding value.
